Now anybody can grow delicious home-grown potatoes, whether or not they
have a garden. The new Potato Patio Planters are designed specifically for use on patios and balconies,
or in small gardens where there’s no space for a vegetable patch.
The Patio Planters are easy to use and reusable. Each holds about 40 litres of compost and is suitable
for between 3 to 5 seed potatoes. Made from a tough, woven polyethylene they have reinforced drainage
holes at the base, can be easily moved using the handles on each side and come complete with detailed
growing instructions.
They come in packs of three, so by planting at 4 to 6 week intervals you can spread your harvest over
an extended period. Even better, there is no need to do any digging – when they are ready, simply remove
a few at a time or tip the planter out and enjoy the real taste of home-grown spuds.

It’s so easy – grow your own vegetables with the new Haxnicks Vegetable
Patio Planters. They have been specially designed for use on patios, balconies and in small gardens,
where there’s not enough room for a vegetable patch. Enjoy the satisfaction of picking your own tasty
crops straight from your Vegetable Patio Planters, knowing exactly how they have been grown.
Each pack of Vegetable Patio Planters contains three planters of different depths – deep, medium and
shallow – to accommodate different types of vegetable and salad plants. To make full use of your
Vegetable Patio Planters you will need approximately 120 litres of high quality multi–purpose compost,
gravel or suitable drainage material, seeds or young plants and some liquid feed. Growing plants from seed
in pots on the windowsill will enable you to be bringing on new young plants for follow on crops.
Most garden centres or mail order catalogues sell ready grown young vegetable plants, so choose the varieties
you like, use our suggestions, or keep costs down by growing your own tasty vegetables from seed, indoors in pots
on the windowsill. Seed packets or plant labels usually indicate if a variety is particularly suitable for
container growing, but look out for compact growing vegetables that have ’bush’ or ’patio’
in the name, and with eye catching crops and flowers. For organic veggies, simply use organic compost and seed.
The Planters are made from a tough, woven polyethylene and come with reinforced drainage holes and handles on each side so they can be easily moved.
They are simple to use, re–usable and fold flat for easy, space–saving storage.
Planting suggestions:
Tomatoes make a perfect patio crop, just try and resist eating them before you have the chance to get them into the kitchen!
Grow a mixture of yellow and cherry red varieties for a fantastic effect.
Leaf salad mixes are fast croppers ready to eat just a few weeks after sowing, and will re–grow up to 4 times
if you trim the foliage and leave the base intact.
Cut and come again lettuce varieties are perfect container subjects, and easy to grow from seed.
Mini Vegetables are succulent and all the rage. Varieties include mini sweet corn, beetroot, carrots, spinach and parsnips.
Mange Tout peas have fantastic flavour and are so crisp and tasty when used raw in salads.
Why not try something exotic like Chinese vegetables or oriental leaves, Pak Choi or beautifully dark aubergines
to impress the family, friends and neighbours with your culinary vision?!
Squashes come in all sorts of wonderful shapes and colours and so much fun the kids will love them.
Add a touch of the mediterranean to your salad bowl. You can grow edible flower varieties such as peppery
nasturtiums or pansies. Seed catalogues list plenty of colourful ideas.
