Bell Cloches
'Cloche' is a French word meaning 'Bell' (The modern
gardener has expanded the original meaning of the word cloche to
also mean 'tunnel covering'). 'Bell Jar' cloches were used by gardeners in the Victorian era and were
originally made from hand blown glass. The glass bell cloches are very heavy, expensive and easily
breakable!The 'Victorian Bell Garden Cloches' are made from high quality plastic, but have a glass like appearance. The Bell Cloche is versatile, lightweight, durable and robust, and works in exactly the same way as the far less practical glass version, providing decorative and effective protection for all types of plants that will last for many seasons. Bell Cloches can be used for warming soil prior to sowing seeds and planting out. They encourage stable and healthy growth of seedlings, tender and semi-hardy plants. Bell Cloches conserve warmth, direct rainwater and moisture into the surrounding soil and protect leaves against damage. Uses include over-wintering of herbaceous borders, and less hardy perennials, growing winter lettuces, encouraging early crops of fruit, vegetables and salads and establishing kitchen herb gardens. Made from high grade UV stabilised plastic. The Bell Cloches now come with an Air Vent for improved ventilation and humidity control. We recommend using ground pegs to hold your Bells secure. The curved shape allows the surface of the cloche to always be 90° to the direction of the sun thereby achieving minimum refraction and maximum penetration of light - the optimum growing environment! 5" Bell Boys are an intensive growing
system for seedlings, plugs and cuttings, and are designed to fit
neatly onto the tops of 5” pots, creating a controllable, mini microclimate.
Bell Boys will help create the perfect growing environment whether or not you have a greenhouse, heated frame or propagator, you can still raise seedlings, plugs and cuttings in the house very successfully using Bell Boys. An intensive growing system for seeds, seedlings, cuttings and young plant plugs. 5" Bell Boys are particularly useful when sowing small seeds like Lobelia where a 5” pot is much better than an oversized seed tray. Similarly, virtually all leafy and woody cuttings and some seedlings need the depth of a 4” or 5” pot as opposed to a shallow seed tray. Bell Boys provide the propagator lid that aids germination. Baby Victorian Bells

Baby Bells are perfect for protecting seedlings,
tender and semi-hardy plants, their design allows sunlight to be captured
at any angle providing the ideal conditions for over wintering herbaceous
border plants and less hardy perennials. Baby Bells direct rain water and moisture into the surrounding soil protecting alpines from excess water and damp conditions. Large Victorian Bells
